Freddie’s Inferno by Freddie Dredd

January 27, 2023 By Cory Balon

freddie-dredd-freddies-inferno“The title of the album, Freddie’s Inferno, is a reference to Dante’s Inferno, a poem written by Dante Alighieri in the 1300s which describes the journey through hell. The tracklist also mirrors the poem as each track is named after a circle of hell.”    —Genius

Freddie Dredd’s songs in this album share the same names as many of the sins present in Dante’s Inferno.

“Comin’ from the underworld
My body holds a demon
Heard you screamin’ for a break
I don’t think anyone could take
I’m a beast, I’m a foe, I’m the one you saw before
Don’t be greedy with your life”   –Freddie Dredd, “Greed”

Lindsay Lohan’s Falling For Christmas(2022)

December 6, 2022 By Cory Balon

lindsay-lohanIn an essay for Vulture Rachel Handler compares Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix movie, Falling for Christmas, to Dante’s Divine Comedy: “She must travel through each circle of hell, including Heresy, where she eats bacon despite saying she ‘doesn’t do bacon,’ and Treachery, wherein she learns that her fiancé was gay all along and using her for clout.”    –Rachel Handler, “Netflix’s Falling for Christmas Is a Dante’s Inferno-esque Allegory,” Vulture (November 10, 2022)

Trump and his Enablers belong in Dante’s 9th Circle of Hell

June 16, 2021 By Ezra Berman '23

each-betrayal-begins-with-trust-martin-luther“If Dante’s deepest circle of Hell did exist, it would be reserved for Trump and his enablers. It would be reserved for those who betrayed our country and this beautiful blue world for profit. It would be reserved for those who allowed a pandemic to take tens of thousands of lives and affect millions. It would be reserved for those who are silent about the bounties placed on our active duty troops’ heads, who disparage our military, intelligence agencies, our scientists, and health care professionals. It would be reserved for those who place all that we love in danger.

“It would be reserved for those who supposedly care for us, but expect silence about their support of Trump or of those who support him.

“The list of betrayals in my life is long and old.” […]    –Onomastic, Daily Kos, September 15, 2020
