The French metal band In Die Nacht released their album, Eradicum Humanest, in 2005 with Gustave Doré’s, The Avaricious as the album art. Doré’s illustration is from Canto 20 of Purgatorio.

The Everlasting is a 1997 metal album by the Swedish band, Mortum. The art for the cassette tapes features Gustave Doré’s illustration of canto 22 of the Inferno, Alichino and Calcabrina.

Polish band, Immemoratus, released their album, Astral Enigma, in November of 2007. The album was limited to a total of 100 copies. The art used for the album cover was taken from Gustave Doré’s illustration, Thieves.

Swedish band Insult released Abysmal Incantations in 2009. The album art they used was a cropped version of Gustave Doré’s illustration, Geri Del Bello.
